Hydrogen needs concerted action
Green hydrogen is a cornerstone of the energy transition, especially also for the industry in NRW. It requires completely new value chains. But hydrogen can only become a success story if all stages of the value chain are developed simultaneously - a challenge not only for the players, but especially for policymakers.

Already today, RWE is one of the world’s leading companies in renewable energies. With our strategy “Growing Green”, RWE intends to invest EUR 50 billion by 2030 in wind, solar, batteries, flexible generation and green hydrogen - to become carbon-neutral by 2040. RWE plans to build up net 2 GW of electrolyser capacity by 2030, whereby being active also in the rest of the value chain. RWE is cooperating with strong partners from industry to drive forward currently around 30 green hydrogen projects.
